Review a Proof

ProofJump makes reviewing email campaigns easy with several email-native review features.

Note that, although previous versions of a proof can be viewed, only the latest version can be commented or annotated on.

Which page a guest/reviewer enters at depends on the link received:

  • Link to a campaign > campaign page
  • Link to a proof > proof page

For example, the image shows a unregistered guest's perspective of following a link to a campaign:

Certain functionality is common to both pages:

  • Campaign page

The campaign page assists with managing the various proofs within the campaign. Learn more about managing proofs from the campaigns page.

  • Proof page

The proof page is where most of your review will take place. This document will present your reviewing options. Learn more about the controls on the proof page.

Proof Reviewing Options

There are two types of proofs:

Image proofs

Team members may wish to receive feedback on an image.

Unlike an email proof, a simple image does not correspond to a web page. A web page can be responsive, i.e., adjust its layout according to the client's screen size. A single image does not.

Email proofs

Email proofs are proofs of email content either sent from your Email Service Provider (ESP) to ProofJump, or uploaded as HTML. Email proofs give you additional review options over image proofs such as the ability to review responsive and image blocked views.

Some inboxes will not display images, so it is worth ensuring that your email will work with and without images. The image blocked view also allows marketing teams to preview and proof the email from the perspective of a visually impaired recipient.

"View source code" to access the HTML of a proof: see the controls.

Proof summary

The proof summary displayed above the proof contains:

  • From address: Displayed only if the proof was sent as an email
  • Subject: The subject assigned to this version of the proof
  • Preheader text: The preheader text is automatically generated from the text within an email but can be manually edited

Proof metadata

  • Version

The proof version is displayed above the header:

  • Creation date

The timeline of events for your proof is presented in the right-hand pane of the proof page.

Proofing options

Various options are available to support different views of the proof:

1. Image blocked mode

Toggling "images off" allows reviewers to view your emails from the perspective of recipients whose email clients block the images. You can also review the Alt Text to ensure that it is set correctly.

See the controls.

The (default) live view allows reviewers to test the links that are contained within the email.

See the controls.

3. Review in desktop or mobile

Select mobile or desktop views to review how the email renders across devices. Desktop sets the page to 800px wide and mobile to 400px wide.

See the controls.

Note that view mode also supports resizing of an HTML proof page, allowing reviewers to test and verify responsive break points.

4. Compare alternatives

Side-by-side your proofs for an easy comparison. You can use this mode to compare mobile/desktop views, as well as different versions of a proof.

See the controls.

Notice that, as you scroll one proof, the comparision proof scrolls in sync.

5. Change versions

You can view alternative versions or compare versions side-by-side.

Annotate and comment

Annotate mode provides a pin-drop to allow reviewers to make comments. Here you can pin any area of the proof that you would like to comment on.

This is the key feature when working with a proof: learn more about making Annotations and Comments.

Make a decision

The decision flow uses a traffic light system:

  • red: Changes required
  • yellow: Approved with changes
  • green: Approved

After completing your review for a version of the proof, you may communicate a decision on the proof.
